Terms of Use
Last updated: 4 July 2026
The short version
WhatoGrow is a free tool. Use it to help plan your garden. Don't misuse it. The planting advice is a guide, not a guarantee. Donations are welcome but always optional. That's pretty much it, but the full version is below.
Who we are
WhatoGrow (whatogrow.com) is a free online garden planting calendar for Australian home gardeners. You can reach us at hello@whatogrow.com.
Using WhatoGrow
WhatoGrow is free to use. You don't need an account. In return, we ask that you:
- Use the site for its intended purpose: planning what to grow in your garden.
- Don't attempt to scrape, copy, or reproduce the planting data or guide content in bulk.
- Don't use the site in any way that could damage, overload, or impair it for other users.
- Don't try to access any part of the system you're not supposed to (our API, database, and so on).
Planting advice disclaimer
The planting calendars and guides on WhatoGrow are based on Bureau of Meteorology climate data and are designed to give you a reasonable starting point for your specific suburb. They are a guide, not a guarantee.
Gardening outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, such as your specific soil, microclimates, weather variations in a given year, and your individual growing conditions. We can't be responsible for crop failures or outcomes that don't match the calendar's suggestions. If in doubt, check with your local nursery or the BOM for current conditions.
Our content
The plant guides, planting data, and text content on WhatoGrow are original work and are protected by copyright. You're welcome to share links to our guides and reference our advice for personal use. Please don't reproduce full guides or substantial portions of our content on other websites without permission.
Donations
WhatoGrow is free to use and always will be. If you find it useful and want to support its continued development, you're welcome to make a voluntary donation via our Ko-fi page. Donations are completely optional and do not give you any additional features, rights, or entitlements.
Donations are received as business income and are not tax-deductible charitable contributions. By donating you are not purchasing a product or service, and you have no right to a refund unless required by Australian Consumer Law in circumstances where a guarantee applies.
Third-party links and ads
The site displays advertising (currently via Google AdSense) and may contain links to third-party sites (seed suppliers, nurseries, and so on). We don't control the content of ads or third-party sites and aren't responsible for them. Ad content is clearly labelled.
Your consumer rights
Nothing in these terms removes or limits any rights you have under Australian Consumer Law. If you believe we've acted in breach of your consumer rights, you can contact the ACCC at accc.gov.au or your state fair trading office.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site evolves. The “last updated” date at the top will reflect the current version.
